...
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, by Hunter S. Thompson is an easy to read fictional book. ... Thompson did not write Fear and Loathing for someone looking for a deep book with a great deal of symbolism. Fear and Loathing however; is a hilarious and entertaining novel. ...
One criticism of Fear and loathing lies in its humor; sometimes Thompson drags it out a bit to long and the reader tends to not feel so amused. When the reader first picks up the book, they find it funny to imagine Duke and his attorney in a bar where the floors have turned into a bloody sponge from a hallucination. By the end of the book Thompson has talked so heavily about Duke and his attorneys drug highs that he loses some ability to amuse. ... Fear and loathing does however, stress the pointlessness of life. ... Although I do not believe Thompson tries to make drugs look horrific, this book had that effect on me. After reading Fear and Loathing I will never want to try any kind of hard drug like the ones illustrated in this book.
