My Dad

The biggest influence in my life has been my father. He has been so many things to me in my22 years. He has been a father, hunting teacher, counselor, and friend. I have been fortunate enough to have a dad who is very interested in what I was doing and what was going on. I think that in this day and age it is increasingly rare that you see good role models as parents because it is such a difficult job and more and more people are career driven and less than adequate parents. My dad, Neil Herling, was born into a farming family in rural Minnesota. His father was a farmer and served in world war two in the army. My dad grew up on a farm outside of Roseau and was the youngest of five kids. I think that he is the man he is today because of the challenges and rewards of hard work on a farm.
