Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening
The poem ¡®Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening¡¯ by Robert Frost gives the reader many ideas about what this poem is about - stopping by the woods and watching the snow falling or other ideas, like the speaker¡¯s life (his feelings about it). When reading it for the first time, the reader will think is that it is a simple poem about a person walking through somebody else¡¯s land (the owner of the land lives in the village ¡°His house is in the village though¡±) and then being mesmerized by the snow starting to fall in the woods, while the queer horse thinks what the poet is doing is ¡°queer¡± as in weird and tries to bring the speaker back to reality. ... This can be supported by the quotations ¡°To watch his woods fill up with snow¡±, showing he has stopped everything else he is doing so he can watch the falling snow, ¡°my little horse must think it queer, to stop without a farmhouse near¡±, showing that his horse normally does not stop in the middle of nowhere, ¡°he gives his harness bells a shake, to ask if there is some mistake¡±, showing the horse trying to grab the speaker¡¯s attention, and ¡°the woods are lovely¡±, showing that he is in a state of thought.
