Upon initial examination the sinking of the Lusitania on 7 May 1915 seems like a more brutal and not completely justified act of war by Germany however, with further investigation many shocking facts about the British emerge. ... According to a number of sources (quoted in Collin Simpson’s Book, Lusitania), as the Lusitania’s size and structure made it particularly vulnerable to attack it had been extensively modified and armed. ... The British had received intelligence about the U20 submarine, responsible for sinking the Lusitania in the days leading up to the attack. The Lusitania had many opportunities to alter its course and avert the danger of the submarine however the intelligence either did not reach the ship, or its full impact was not realised. ... According to an eyewitness account by a passenger of the Lusitania, very few of the life boats were lowered properly.
