Assessment and Evaluation: Lane is a 22 year old non competitive freestyle skier who practices in the terrain park 3 days a week. Though she has competed before, she has refrained from doing so in the past two years so that she can focus on her getting better at skiing. She feels that each time she enters the terrain park she is in a non-traditional competitive environment with herself and the other skiers around her. There are lots of other freestyle skiers in the terrain park and usually Lane is the only female practicing on the rails and table top jumps. Lane feels very intimidated by the domination of males in the terrain park despite the fact they encourage her to participate in jumping with them. Because Lane is not as good as the males, she often does not want to participate due to her feelings of not being good enough. These feelings affected her skiing in that she didn’t want to go skiing as often and she would sometimes avoid the terrain parks all together on days where there were lots of people practicing in the terrain park. Lane has taken the SCAT test, given relevant past information and taken the Trait Self Confidence Inventory test which is shown in Table 1. Table 2 shows the results from the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory.
