How does the Author drop clues that dr Jekyl is also Mr Hyde
The author creates mystery for the reader by punctuating the plot with clues. The reader is skillfully manipulated by the author with the suggestions and the reader is invited to work out the story before it is concluded. The first clue is when Dr Jekylly says "The moment i choose, i can be rid of Mr Hyde" This is a hint that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person, without making it obvious.Dr Jekyll thinks he is in control of Hyde and can make him stop whenever he wants. Another clue is when, seen by a maid who witnessed a crime, describing a man as "a very small gentlemen" the reader thinks this man is Hyde as he has already been discribed as a small man. Another clue is when Mr Utterson asks "I do not think i have ever met My Hyde?" The Butler replies "Indeed, we see very little of him on this side of the house, he mostly comes and goes by the laboraty", this is a clue arousing the readers suspicion of who Mr Hyde is.
