Taming the Ignorant During the reconstruction era, white men were free while Negro's were trying to reach freedom. Stupidity, loyalty, and disgrace were floating about the country in rapid movements. In South Carolina, men were fighting for freedom and others fighting to protect what they felt was rightfully theirs. These white men felt freedom belonged to them and Negro's had no right to be free. At this moment in history, color of skin was killing the love for the same flag, the same ground, and the same country. Colored protected that flag, and whites yet only whites were totally free. Representation of both colors was formed, laws passed, and request being made yet either race was intelligent enough to overcome the stupidity of color.
