Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol Essay People are more important than profit people need to be loved. ... There is a big contrast between Scrooge and Mr Fezziwig in that Mr Fezziwig is a good employer because he lets his men get off work and treated them with respect and treated them as a human being not something off the bottom of his shoe this is in stark contrast to Scrooge who is a bad employer as he treats his employers inadequately and is very stern and angry to them especially when Christmas is mentioned, also Fezziwig shows his generosity when inviting everyone to his hall, trying to make people enjoy themselves. ... Dickens uses the spirit of Christmas past magnificently as we see Scrooge in an earlier life seeing himself as a cold-hearted person there, who does have feelings for people which is reflected when he mentions names of people such as Robin Crusoe and joins in the fun at Fezziwig’s ballroom and when he sobs when he sees himself at a younger age and of course his sister. There is a big message that Dickens tries and gets across which is Christmas should be celebrated, of course Scrooge feel’s differently towards Christmas especially when he says to his nephew “Bah humbug”. Scrooge is implying that Christmas is rubbish and is not important. A good example of this is the Cratchit family who enjoy themselves even though they don’t have much money to spend, they are celebrating and enjoying the moment and also at Scrooge’s nephew’s house where they dance, and our also enjoying themselves revelling in the Christmas spirit which of course is a tradition. Fred also asked Scrooge to Christmas dinner but of cause Scrooge would not take his offer up, but later on when the spirits have visited Scrooge he starts to realise a lot of things more significantly that family is valued! The spirit of Christmas present is portrayed in a jolly giant with a big loving heart.
