Upon entering the classroom, I was greeted by Mr. Larkin, Mr. Wencley’s classroom “neighbor” (they share an office connecting their two classrooms). To my delight, he didn’t just say the usual ‘good morning,’ but also said that he saw how I took control of the classroom the week before, when the substitute was there, and how well the students responded to me. He told me that he believes I will make a great teacher and he was proud of how well I did on my own. That made my morning greater than it already was. Not only was I coming I to do something that I love to do, but received a wonderful compliment from a superior colleague. He popped his head back into the classroom and told me that, once again, Mr. Wencley was out on jury duty. Upon hearing this, I started looking around the front desk for the day’s plans.
