I have found out in my initial research all about waist oil burners and how garages deal with getting their waste taken away. ... This is how I thought all garages would have done it until I came across some information that told me Ansell’s garage in Lyd has their own waste oil burner. This is an interesting point because Invicta Motors that I phoned and spoke to pays to send away all its used oil, yet Ansell’s garage disposes of it them selves. ...
Garages that do choose to have their own waist oil burner have to have authorisation from the council and operate under very strict rules. ... Also a supply of suitable oil-absorbent material shall be maintained on the site, and any liquid spillages shall be cleaned up immediately. The operator of the oil burner is to keep a record of every smoke emission in a logbook and must keep them for a minimum of two years. ...
The reason all garages do not have their own waist oil burner is because of all these rules laid down by the council. By having one, I would say the business definitely saves money because they would not have to pay for heating in the winter and they do not have to pay for the oil to be taken away.
