The Doors and Their Effect on Culture

Attention getter: “If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear as it is, infinite” This is a quote from author William Blake that is said to have been Jim Morrison’s inspiration for the name of the infamous band, The Doors.
Specific purpose statement: Today, I would like to inform you about a band called The Doors, and the effect they had on music and culture.
Relevancy: I believe that this topic is important because even today, Jim Morrison and The Doors are remembered for the contributions they made to peoples views of music, and how they affected the evolution of rock and roll.
Credibility: I feel that I am able to discuss this subject at length through extensive research, and appreciation for the music of The Doors.
I will be discussing the roots of The Doors, and how they became famous, their effects on music and culture, and what happened when they began fading away.
Transition: First of all, I would like to give you a little background information on the Doors. ... How The Doors got started. ... It was also Ray Manzarek who recruited two more members, Robby Krieger and John Densmore to form what became The Doors.
