Geographic Location of the Arawaks

As stated by the People who came book 2, the arawaks originated in south America in the region known as French Guiana, Surinam (formerly Dutch Guiana, Guyana (formerly British Guiana) and Venezuela. In 1492, when Columbus came, the arawaks lived in Bahamas islands, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

From the map on page , you can see that the Arawaks were also located in the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Colombia.


Geographic Location of the Caribs

The Caribs occupied the northwestern part of Trinidad; the islands of the lesser Antilles and the eastern part of Puerto rico. Caribs still live in Guyana on the mainland.


Geographic Location of the Mayas
The Mayas inhabited three areas of Central America; the Guatemala highlands, chispas, Peten and Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula.
