leIs it right to end the life of a terminally ill person. Since the 1970s people have been debating about the issue of euthanasia. Should it be legalised and let doctors play god or should ending a terminally ill persons life with no hope of living still be counted as murder. Many family members of several terminally ill patients have wanted to end the pain and suffering of there loved one. Although many people tend to disagree with the idea of euthanasia. The following will be a language analysis on the following three articles about euthanasia, “Let Love Deliver Death” (Herald Sun, Opinion, 6th March 2003, p20), “The Death Knell For Euthanasia” (Sydney Morning Herald, Opinion, 30th May 2002, p13), “Enforced, Prolonged Life Is a Fate Worse Than Death” (Sydney Morning Herald, Opinion, 19th November 2001, p12). The first article from the Herald Sun titled “Let Love Deliver Death” is an opinion article, which clearly states the euthanasia should be allowed. Robyn Riley, the author of the article, attempts to persuade readers that euthanasia is ok by using emotive language throughout the article. The writer attempts to place a disturbing graphical image in the readers head by describing a terminally ill woman as an imprisoned vegetable as she says “She is in bed in a nursing home in a vegative state, kept alive by a stomach tube the provides food and fluids.
