Devolution: In Lord of the Flies and in gangs "We can use this to call the others. Have a meeting. They’ll come when they hear us—." Piggy says when he finds the conch. He uses the conch and wants a sense of unity of the people on the island. That’s why many people join gangs, a sense of being part of a team. People join gangs to for many reasons. In a way they are showing signs of devolution. These are their stories. At first, people joined gangs and did pranks and other mischievous things and they traveled in -groups that gave the feeling of protection. People could see them just toying around with someone. These pranks included stealing little things, breaking windows and beating up on little kids. Nothing that would cause someone's lives, but annoyances. Times have changed however. Now gangs do things that are even worse.
