As a society, we need strong leaders; ones who will help shape our community into a better place. As individuals, imagining the best or worst outcomes given our situation and a set of choices is the most common way of making decisions. We tend to rationalize with statements such as “What if?” or “If not…” Society needs and utilizes these contrasts to make value based decisions, and to form opinions about our surroundings. The result of this “societal forecasting” is what allows us to acknowledge the possibility of Utopias or Dystopias. Utopias and Dystopias are recurring themes that emerge worldwide and span hundred of cultures. However, they are mostly written or depicted as Religious Beliefs, Political ideologies, or works of fiction; some satirical, some bordering close to “Aesop’s Fables” The One’s who left Omelas Omelas, what a place! This Utopia illustrates a very strong moral question.
