Divine Heroes: the Epic Tradition. The Ramayana is a story of the Hindu religion and some of its most important characters and deities. The basic story of the Ramayana is about Dasharatha¡¯s several sons that were born to his three wives. His eldest son, Rama, is much loved by all of the town¡¯s citizens, and is on the path to succeed his father as king.
