Introduction :
In the theatre of the international field, the Japanese theatrical art has its own feature. Compare with the western theatre, it has grotesquely style of the oriental art, and compare with other countries of orient, it also has the specific spice of Japanese nation. The Japanese theatre experienced the evolution, which is quite different from any other countries. From the early types of theatre such as Noh, Buraku, kabuki, to the recent forms such as Shingeki (New Theatre). Especially kabuki, it is one of the typical Japan’s traditional theatre arts. ... Some features of kabuki such as good skills, exaggerate performance, showy devices, wizardly conversion also influence the contemporary Japanese theatre. This essay will discuss the influence of kabuki provide to contemporary Japanese theatre and how the characteristics of contemporary Japanese theatre related to Japanese society and culture.

As one of the typical form of traditional theatre, we can consider kabuki from three aspects, which can influence contemporary theatre, they are music, dance and actors. ... The actors perform librettos and are usually accompanied by traditional Japanese instruments. These behaviors of music show the unique characteristics of traditional Japanese theatre, and express its style of national culture. And its high technically speaking (songs) can also as the sample of language expression of contemporary Japanese theatre, many of Japan’s current creators of new theatre have acquired their skills through traditional training, which they use in new ways. They adapted from or inspired by it, abstract the pith of the traditional music and enrich the elements of contemporary theatre.
Another important part of kabuki is “dance”, it’s also a major factor which influence the contemporary Japanese theatre. Although kabuki and other traditional theatres similar in some ways but with important differences. ... In Sho Suzuki’s report “Modern Dance in Japan”(1996), he refers, in the modernization Japan, the dance is much under the influence of Western dance arts, the traditional dance arts trended to be neglected-indeed.
