... The tale of Cinderella is known to have over 700 versions in existence throughout the world today. Disney’s animated “Cinderella” and 20th Century Fox’s “Ever After” are two recent films that depict this fairy tale and its variants best. ... “Cinderella” is animated, consists of fantastical elements (pumpkins and fairy godmothers), and is considered to be a more traditional telling of the ancient fairy tale. “Ever After” strives to recast the fairy tale as a misunderstood episode in history making it more realistic.
Danielle, the Cinderella of “Ever After,” loses her father early in the movie and she stays in his house even though she is mistreated by her wicked stepmother.
