Eveline’s Refusal to Face the Reality of Life
There comes a time in everyone’s life when one must leave the comfort of ones home. ... Although most people see this period as just a part of life, “Eveline” from James Joyce’s short story “Eveline” wasn’t able to cope with the pressure of leaving the safety of her home. Eveline grew up leading a pretty normal life, despite all the verbal and physical abuse from her father. As a child there was a field that Eveline, her brothers Harry and Earnest, and the surrounding neighbors would play in. ... By hiding from her father shows how, even as a child Eveline is scared to stand up and face reality.
