Gulliver experienced many different satirical things on his trips to Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa, and to where the Yahoo’s were. The satire’s were both humorous and insightful, and John Swift utilized actual historical facts in his writings to criticize and ridicule the 18th Century England. His Voyage to Lilliput had some interesting satires laced into it all. On Gulliver’s trip to Lilliput, he met up with the Lilliputians there. He discovered these little people with a very startled demeanor. The people there were only six inches in height, and Gulliver couldn’t believe his eyes. Their insignificantly tiny size represented the human races obsession with ourselves, when there’s a whole universe out there and were only a spec of dust in the grand scheme of things. For example, when he forms an arch for the military troops to walk under at the parade, he is supposed to represent glory and hope for them. This is a mockery of the troops and their actions because just walking under him was supposed to boost their morale.
