This usage of color is significant to the story because Tom and Daisy have had their money handed to them and Gatsby’s money is new, and he earned it. This is really strange because Gatsby buys a Yellow Car, A big Yellow car, resembling that he wants to be like Tom and Daisy, and win Daisy, (his long lost love), but he isn’t fooling Tom.
