Shakespeares historical tragedy "Macbeth" is a fast-moving blood-stained power struggle showing that ambition can after lead to evil deeds and dire consequences.
The first time we hear of Lady Macbeth is when she receives Macbeths letter in Act 1 Scene 5. Her reaction to the letter is very peculiar she immediately pictures "murder", there is a contrast between her attractive, appealing side and her corrupt and devouring side. ... She states "what thou holily wouldst not play false", meaning Macbeth desires greatness but only by fair means were as Lady Macbeth would rather "catch the nearest way" Nothing but corrupt thoughts pass her mind and she comes up with the decision that if she wants this crown, Duncan must die, "That which cries…have it".
Shortly after reading the letter, Lady Macbeth receives news that Duncan is to stay with them in their castle. Lady Macbeth calls on evil spirits to assist her murderous plans. She basically converts herself into an evil witch, "come you spirits…mortal thoughts" and "Unsex me hear".
Her reaction to Macbeth when he enters, is essential to her overall character, she immediately switches, to being a charming persuasive woman, a sort of woman which can almost brainwash ones thoughts.
