Eastern Europe- Terms 1. Frederick II (Great) (pg 234)- Frederick the II was later called the Great who became king in 1740. Frederick stuck with his army with out any notice at all and he had then moved his forces quickly into Silesia, to which the Hohenzollerns had an old doubtfull claim. Frederick also had raised an army of 200,000 for Prussia establishing it as a great power. 2. Soldier's King ( In Studyguide)- The soldier king is King Fredrick William I. He had infused the military in everyday life. He had created teh best army in Europe for its size. Frderick's welfare of king and states depends on the army. Also to keep quiet is the first civic duty. 3. Battle of Poltavia (pg 241)- 4. Brandenburg-Prussia (pg 566)- Is devastated during the Thirty-Year war. The Hohenzollern family were the rulers of Brandenburg and Prussia were nothing more than the first among equals, the largest landonwers in a landlord society.
