The Parties
In this year¡¦s state election, there are many candidates that you can vote for representing a number of different parties or are independents. They include: -
¡P Australian Democrats- Their main campaigns and issues include law and order, prisons, education, environment, agriculture, mental health, public lands, container deposit levy, accountability and people with disabilities. The NSW leader of the Australian Democrats is Dr Arthur Chester-field Evans.
¡P Australian Family Alliance- Their main aim is to provide benefits to parents, children and extended families. ...
¡P Australian Labor Party- One of the two major parties the Labor party promised include reducing class sizes, strengthen public education, a better health system, action on drugs, quality teaching, promoting and recognising our heritage and a better defence planning. ... They are committed to security on our streets homes and transport, improving the quality of family life, child protection, promotion of Christian ethnics, and honest and fair government, support towards Christian schools, against gambling, illegal drugs and pornography. ...
¡P Country Labor Party- The Country Labor party is very similar to the Australian Labor party. ...
¡P Liberal Party of Australia- One of the major parties in Australia, this party has put forward these main points in their campaign; child protection, more police, better public transport, more compulsory minimum sentences, more discipline in government schools, an elective surgery centre, better mental health care and better pre-schools. ... ¡P Socialist Alliance- The Socialist Alliance is a national alliance of eight socialist parties, their objectives and beliefs includes; get rid of GST and tax the rich, fund public and stop funding private, end discrimination, fee and expanded public transport, justice for the indigenous population, free the refugees and they are strictly against wars. ...

o More ambulance services and faster response time
o Better services for people with cancer
o Continuing to rebuild rural hospitals
o Provide more staff accommodation
¡P Commitment to Older People- The Labor Government has always tried to provide a safe and caring environment for the older population of NSW. ... If the Carr Government is re-elected for another term, some of the things that they promise include:
o Increase ¡§Home and Community Care Funding¡¨
o $290 million funding over 5 years to staff non-government organizations
o Increase police visibility in the community
o Purchase 400 air-conditioned, low floor buses
o Better programs that help prevent scams against older people
o Review the ¡§Healthy Ageing Framework,¡¨ to improve support for older people
o More volunteering programs that develop relationships between the young and old
¡P Drug Treatment Policy- The Labor Government will establish a drug treatment program which allows courts to send drug offenders to correctional centres that focus on drug treatment and rehabilitation. ...
o More supervision for offenders that are on parole
¡P Plan for Children and Families- The Carr Government believes that by helping families stay together, it would build a community that would be stronger, healthier and safer. So if they are elected for another term in government, they have the following plans:
o Increase funding to over $1 billion over the next 5 years for community services.
o Employ725 caseworkers for child protection and 150 for home care
o Boost funding for families to $150 million
o $450 million to support new services for children in and out of home care
¡P Plans for Young People in NSW- The Carr Labor Government wants youths in NSW to live a rewarding life. ... They have the following plans
o A new Youth Forum program that would widen awareness of young people¡¦s issues
o Encourage and support Aboriginal youth development
o Update the Youth website to receive more feedback
