The Story of Boaz, Ruth, and Naomi is one of love and good fortune. Found in the Book of Ruth and carried from chapter two through chapter four, the story tells of Naomi and her daughter Ruth. Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died one day leaving her with her two daughters; one being Ruth. Naomi told her daughters to stay at home while she traveled to Moab for their good fortune. ... Ruth, being the faithful daughter she was, stayed with Naomi and went to Moab with her. One day, Ruth told her mother that she was going to go to the fields of Elimelech and pick up any grain that the workers who favor her drop. Naomi agreed to Ruth’s offer and before long, Ruth found herself working along side Boaz. Boaz was a distant relative of Naomi’s husband’s side of the family. Boaz discovered Ruth and told her to stay in his fields and come back daily to work with his servant girls and take all the grain she needed. ... Ruth was ecstatic with Boaz’s kindness and she asked him why he was being so decent. He told her that he had heard of Ruth’s kindness to her mother and thought that the Lord wanted him to help repay her kindness. Upon returning to her home and telling Naomi of her good fortune, the two women were overjoyed that Ruth had come across Boaz’s fields of safety and prosperity without having the status of a servant girl.
