The Joad family left Oklahoma for a few reasons. First off they weren’t producing any crops because Oklahoma was the center of the dust bowl. Since they weren’t producing the people that owned the land kicked the Joads off. 2. The Joad family chose to move to California because it had work. The Joads were out of work and weren’t very well off. They needed the change of scenery and the job. 4. The Joads left camp one because Tom got word that camp was going to be set on fire.
