Jean Kilbourn

What is the Secret? I truly enjoyed this presentation. Mrs. Jean Kilbourn used just the right amount of visual aids, humor, and facts to interest her audience and keep their attention. One thing that I thought was particularly interesting was the statistics that she shared with us. Statistics like an average human being sees or watches three thousand advertisements a day and spend over two years of our lives watching commercials and reading ads. These numbers really struck me and made me reflect on how advertising affects me and my thought in the everyday world. “Most people think that ads don’t affect them,” said Kilbourn. “They think they don’t apply to me, but only eight percent of an ad is received by your conscious mind and ninety-two percent is received by your unconscious mind.” That is a very telling statistic.
