Schools are where the children learn about what it means to grow up as a Singaporean in a multi-racial society. We have thus sought to build into our school curriculum and activities, content and practices which capture the essence of our nation-building. This means more than book knowledge and doing well in exams, or even learning to think, reason, and be creative. It means knowing what our security, prosperity and future depend on, and having the grit and the instincts to survive and make it as a nation. It means learning to get along with schoolmates, to care for each other and to help those who need help.
