Oddyseus

Many people have cheated on their wife or husband- either with their mind or their body. Odysseus was different. He stayed true to his wife for twenty years and did not want to be immortal. Who would not choose to be immortal? Odysseus did not and it paid off in the long run- he finally got to see his wife! Odysseus, like all of us, had strengths and weaknesses, but he seemed to have the gods on his side. Some strengths that made him a great epic hero were his perspicacity, fidelity, self-sacrifice, and his shrewdness. Odysseus’ perspicacity and astuteness helped him escape from the Cyclops. When the Cyclops asks for his name, he says, “My name is Nohbdy: mother, father, and friends, everyone calls me Nohbdy.” (Homer, pg 692). He shows his wisdom in this episode when he “thinks outside of the box”.
