Throughout More's life, his ethics were attacked numerous times. More was a strong, faithful Christian. Not once did he ever question his own beliefs in God and the Church. When Norfolk was questioning More's beliefs in the Act of Succession he asked, "You'll forfeit all you've got, which includes the respect of your country, for a theory?" (A.M.F.A.S, pg. 53) Although some may consider this and agree with Norfolk, More on the other hand stood tall and replied, "The Apostolic Succession of the Pope is - Why, it's a theory yes; you can't see it; can't touch it; it's a theory. But what matters to me is not that I believe it, but that I believe it…"(A.M.F.A.S, pg. 53) More states that he doesn't care whether he loses his country's respect and his political status. He will not go against his ethics for one second just to please a few people. More's only goal is to get to Heaven by pleasing God. More knew the consequences of his opposition to the Act.
