The Impact of Friendship in Life Friendship, as proven in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, is an important part of everyone’s life. Without friendship, someone’s life could unravel and become very lonely. In Of Mice and Men there is a taste of both, people living without friendship and people who know friendship. “Guys like us, that work on ranches are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place. They came to a ranch an’ work up a steak and then they go inta town and blow their steak, and the first thing you know they’re pounding their tail on some other ranch. They ain’t got nothing to look ahead to,” George stated (13). George is saying that ranchers don’t have much to look forward to and they have no one to share their achievements with.
