My name is Nelson Mandela, I was born at Quno near Umata July 18, 1918. As I grew up my village paid for me to go to a good High school and law school. After law school I became interested in resisting and trying to end Apartheid. At first my views were non-violent towards the Apartheid system. Then I heard about the Sharpeville massacre. 17 non-violent protesters were killed and 180 of them were critically wounded. I couldn’t let innocent people be killed any more. So in 1960 I formed The Spear of Nations. I wanted to end Apartheid, and I knew it would not get done with non-violent protesting. Plus people were killed. I went underground and trained myself and others military skills and sabotage.
