William Shakespeare wrote the famous play, Romeo & Juliet, anywhere from the late 1500’s to the early 1600’s. The film of Romeo & Juliet was created by Baz Luhrman was made in the year of 1996. The play and the film are very much alike. The film was made to be a modern day version of the play. So there are plenty of differences between the play and the film. The play and the film used language that was called Shakespeare and English in which we normally do not speak this way. The language in the play was carried on into the film. You can hear and notice a lot of the same lines being used in the play and the film. This play was to take place centuries ago. When there was a monarchy form of government for each country. A monarchy government is when you have a King, Queen, or Prince having control of that country. In the play there was a Prince that led the community. However, in the film, there was a governor that led the community. This shows how the film was made in a present day form. Since there are not many countries in the world that has monarchy government anymore. In the play, Romeo found out about the Capulet’s party by reading a guest list to one of the Capulet servants. Where he found out Roseline was invited. In the film, there was a pool table scene. While Romeo and his friends were playing pool and the television was on.
