Dakota Growers Pasta Company Dakota Growers Pasta Company (DGP) is an agricultural cooperative that processes its members’ durum wheat into flour and pasta products. DGP was organized in late 1991 as a closed membership cooperative and became fully operational in 1994. It has 1,084 members who were durum wheat producers located in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana. Brief Industry Profile: On a per capita basis, US pasta consumption has increased from roughly 7 pounds of pasta in 1984 to 14 pounds in 1994. 5 billion pounds of pasta were consumed in 1998 compared with 4 billion pounds in 1992. There were four principal dry pasta market segments: ingredient (43%), private and brand label retail (37%), food service (10%) and government bids (10%).
