Feelings of inadequacy or helplessness are generated by comparing oneself with others, resulting in our inability to accomplish a given task. In other words, we feel inadequate when we compare our totality with other people. And we often hear remarks like “How could I possibly do that?” or “He is better than I am!” or “How can I match such a feat?” or “Will I ever be like her?” When you feel inadequate, simply stop for a minute and think about what you do have. Think of your health, aren’t you glad you are not one of those whom doctors give a month or two to live? Think of your family, aren’t you glad you are not an orphan, longing for love and affection from another caring soul in the community? Think of your friends, aren’t you glad that they are always there to lend a helping hand or offer a shoulder to cry on? Think of your education, aren’t you glad that you are among those who are quite privileged enough to afford one?
