Introduction
Throughout this essay I will be considering elements of film style under four separate aspects: MISE EN SCENE, CINEMATOGRAPHY, EDITING and SOUND with relation to the film Legally Blonde directed by Robert Luketic. ... I will be identifying the relationship between these aspects with relation to a specific segment of the film, this being the opening sequence. ... As the title sequence appears in pink we are metaphorically introduced to the main character Elle, in which Backlighting attends to a full screen of luscious blonde hair glistening under the light, along with the tiffany & co. ... The visual emphasis is on these props, which by no means appears as an indication to what the film’s main purpose is. ... It is now established that Elle supports title being blonde and beautiful. ... The speed of motion in the introduction to the film is slurred and slow, then moving into a constant projection speed adding emphasis to the changing scenery to which we are enveloped. ...
Elle is consistently the centre of the frame, which helps to describe her stature in the film. ...
Editing
Through this opening sequence, the film uses continuity editing which promotes the notion of everyday life.
Just by watching the film most of these technicalities are barely noticeable, as Legally Blonde has been cut according to the continuity system of editing. ...
Sound
The film starts off with speech sound, which carries throughout the whole opening sequence chosen. ... This music that gives us information does not belong to any of the characters in the film. ...
