Almost as common as the common cold, ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), sweeps the nation at an alarming rate, and not from adults. This disorder is diagnosed in children and teens starting at age 6, but there have been cases where children have been diagnosed from ages as low as 3. At such low ages, it’s quite hard to properly diagnose ADD because the symptoms of that disorder are common behaviors in children of that age. Quickly, the symptoms are: inattention, impulsiveness, hyperactivity. I will go into more details later on. These symptoms can range from mild to severe. Sometimes it’s difficult to diagnose ADD because its symptoms are similar to learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, and depression. Also, those disorders can occur along side of ADD which makes diagnosing it that much harder. The exact cause of this disorder is not really known, but it is known that a chemical imbalance affects the brain and alters behavior.
