	Degree Vocalist Project Presentations 24th June 2003 Vocalist: Cher Artist History: Cher was born in El Centro, California in 1946, raised by her single mother who occasionally sung at gigs and appeared briefly in movies. Cher left school at 16 due to suffering badly from dyslexia and went to acting schools in LA. At 17 she met the man who would soon lead her to a successful duo, Sunny Bono. The duo soon began to producer referable songs like ' I'v got you babe', 'The beat goes on' and 'Baby don't go' However as the duo shot to stardom, the personal lives soon became unstable and Cher split from Sonny. Cher's fame soon started to fade away until she was faced with an Oscar nomination for her performance in "Moonstruck".
