ESSAY : IS SALLY A GOOD LEADER
Sally is a poor leader with several positive qualities. During the course of Gabrielle Lord’s novel “Fortress,” it is Sally’s duty to lead a group of children, first as their teacher, then as their guardian during the situation of the kidnapping. Through the duration of this drama, it is Sally’s duty to decide what is best for her charges and which course of action would be the wisest or safest. On most occasions Sally fails to do this, putting both her life, and the lives of her children at risk. While Sally has strong common sense, and is patient with her students, her decision making process is often impaired by her at times selfish nature, her tendency to panic, and her over-dominance. ... Thus Sally is a poor leader with several positive qualities, as though she cannot, at most times, make wise decisions, she is patient with her charges and has superior common sense.
The situation that Sally is forced into is one of life or death. ... An example of this in Sally, is the crossing of the underground river.
