Ecstacy

One of the worst drugs there is is Ecstasy. It is know to be killer drug. I feel that it should no longer exist because it has hurt many people and still is. The people who take it feel more powerful which causes some dangerous interactions. You also don’t have a very good memory anymore, and it just affects about everything in your body. What’s sad about it is that people had very little interest in Ecstasy until the 1970’s and now its one of the most popular drugs in the teen ages and older. Alexander Shulgin, a chemist, introduced Ecstasy to those with an interest in Psychotherapy that is drug assisted. Psychotherapists considered Ecstasy to be moderate in its effects, which were characterized by feelings of empathic understanding for others and a release of emotions. The Psychotherapists reported that Ecstasy had potential for over coming blocks in psychotherapy and enhancing insights mainly concerning relationships. Ecstasy, which was originally imported from Europe, was banned in 1985 and was designated as a Schedule 1 Drug. Meaning that doctors cannot prescribe it and a license is required in order to conduct research on it. Ecstasy is an illegal substance and manufactures are not subject to regulation and quality control. The only way to find out what is exactly in a certain pill and how much, is to have it tested in a laboratory. Pills sold as Ecstasy might contain other substances such as Amphetamines, LSD, or 2CB. Caffeine is frequently in fake Ecstasy. Ketamine, an anesthetic, is occasionally found in Ecstasy and produces very different effects to Ecstasy. Aspirin and other over-the-counter or prescribed medications have also been found mixed in pills, or passed off as Ecstasy. In 2000, Atropine (a prescription drug), was found in pills with certain logos and it can be very dangerous if overdosed. Someone who is impaired by their Ecstasy use can be just as intoxicated as somebody who has taken alcohol. Even in very low doses, Ecstasy can affect concentration and driving ability. People that are on Ecstasy feel more powerful and they sometimes have a tendency to drive faster. A dangerous version of the street drug Ecstasy has been appearing as a Pokemon cartoon character. Ecstasy pills laced with PCP have been found in Fairfax County, VA with the Pikachu character on them.
