... Contrasting from the present, there was a time when the world did not have any prescription drugs or cures for certain diseases. However, now there are prescription drugs for patients to take when they are diagnosed with a disease or when one becomes ill, and researchers have found cures for many of diseases. The problem still currently continues with citizens trying to pass a bill to lower the price of prescription drugs, while drug companies are strongly against this bill. If a bill is passed to lower the price of prescription drugs, it will not only help senior citizens and the poor, but would benefit pharmaceutical manufacturers as well.
Lowering the cost of prescription drugs or even having the drugs as a part of Medicare is a nightmare for Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America also called “PhRMA”. ... Furthermore, it is also why his industry is against lowering the price of prescription drugs. ...
For many and many of years, senior citizens and the needy are struggling to pay for their prescription drugs. Citizens are deeply troubled by the fact that Americans are paying the most for prescription drugs through out the world. It is unfair to say that if the price is lowered for prescription drugs, then there will be less money for research and new drugs to be discovered. According to an interview with Marcia Angell, a medical professor at Harvard Medical School, she states, “…looking at the seminal research on which drugs patents are based, studies have found that about 15 percent of the basic research papers, reporting the basic research, came from the pharmaceutical industry, that’s just 15 percent. ... By means of Angell’s statement, it can be concluded that the pharmaceutical industries’ main goal is definitely not the research of new drugs. ... With this being said, it is understandable why American senior citizens think it is unjust that the price of prescription drugs in Canada and other countries are only a fraction of what America pays.
Trying to convince Americans that they are actually getting a fair deal out of paying for their prescription drugs is not an appropriate statement.
