... First, the title, Blackberry-Picking is using a dash to connect two words, which would better sound in a prosaic way as "Picking Blackberries". Then it is only a blackberry in the title. Would the author suggest that it is only a blackberry, a special one that he is interested to pick? ... My guess is that since both of them were poets a blackberry is the symbol of "a word", so that blackberry picking is nothing else but picking words to make a poem.
