Joel F. Vargas Instructor Eilleen Acosta-Mata Literature 102 11 March 2004 A RAISIN IN THE SUN… A monologue from the novel by Lorraine Hansberry WALTER: Folks know me around here as Walter Lee Younger, fifth generation of Younger family. I’m the man of the house or I least try to be if some folks around here would just give me the chance around here. I have wife and 10 yr old son to support and under my mama’s roof and rules, along with my college going little sister. Life isn’t so fancy around here. You see, dreams are a lot harder to come by for most folks around here. With daddy gone (deceased) all I am looking for is for us get the better of life, for me and my family.
