On Behalf of Polynices Scene, there is a trial in the main courtroom of the Judicial Building in the city of Thebes. Antigone’s Defense Attorney Plevritis and Creon’s District Attorney Hades are half way through the court case. Defense Plevritis: Creon what gives you the right to go against something that the Gods approve of ? That being Antigone’s authorization to bury Polynices, given to her by the Gods. Creon: I believe the Gods are in agreeance with I, the King in that Polynices is a traitor to Thebes. Defense Plevritis: On what grounds would King Creon find Polynices to be a traitor? District Hades: On the grounds that Polynices died in battle against his brother to regain the throne. Defense Plevritis: Denying the throne to whom? To Creon perhaps? District Hades: Objection Judge Leoti: Over ruled Defense Plevritis: Creon denied Antigone the right to bury her brother because Polynices attempted to take his right to the throne.
