Do you enjoy an activity for the reward or for the accomplishment? Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote “The reward of a thing well done, is to have done it.” I believe many people choose an activity for the glory instead of the accomplishment itself. The activity could be anything from a charitable event to athletics. Many people participate in these and many other activities for possibly a picture in the paper, adding to a resume, or even recognition from peers, family, and community. The reward of doing something is just doing it. The motivation for tackling any activity should not be for the outside benefits but for completing just the task. Everyone should do an activity for the personal satisfaction. Personal satisfaction should come before the importance of any accolades. I also believe that the true gratification is believing in yourself and knowing that you can accomplish the task. This gratification is gained only when the task is completed.
