The Buffalo Sabres certainly aren't making this easy. They scored the first two goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night and watched their lead slip away. They had a three-goal lead in the third period and watched it disappear. If it keeps up, so might their chances of making the playoffs. The Sabres squandered yet another point Monday night when the Leafs scored three goals in the third period, sending the game into overtime with 37.2 seconds remaining in regulation, en route to a wild 6-5 victory in overtime before a sellout crowd in HSBC Arena. Buffalo is four points behind the New York Islanders with 10 games remaining. "We can't afford to lose the points," Sabres winger Jochen Hecht said. "We should be able to hang onto those points." Tomas Kaberle converted Alexander Mogilny's pass on a two-on-one 3:45 into the extra session as the Sabres lost their third straight game in overtime. Gary Roberts tied the game, 5-5, late in the third period when he beat Martin Biron with a deflection of Mogilny's wrist shot from the point. It marked the second time in two games the Sabres blew a two-goal lead and lost in OT. This one felt worse.
