“Poetry” as written by Marianne Moore is a poem which briefly tells the reader of her idea that when we loose our imagination we have nothing left. ...
She begins,”I too, dislike it:” kind of introduces the idea that out culture doesn’t embrace poetry and the imagination. She says the society believes that poetry and the imaginations are just “fiddle”, nothing more. ... ”,
Moore writes to compare to poetry. ... This opens the door to why the poem is somewhat critical of those who don’t like poetry, they don’t admire or understand. ... She says until society can have “imaginary gardens with real toads in them” we as a society, can not truly understand poetry.
