Ludwig van Beethoven, the great German composer, has proved to be one of the greatest musicians of all time. Having begun his career as an outstanding improviser at the piano and composer of piano music, he went on to compose string quartets and other kinds of chamber music, songs, an opera, and a total of nine symphonies. Beethoven experienced many emotional tragedies in his life, including the death of his mother, his father’s alcoholism, and most of all his increasing deafness. These lead to a general feeling of depression and social isolation for Beethoven. These experiences influenced his life and definitely was reflected in his music.
