Born April 30, 1777, Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss grew up living a rather simple life in Brunswick, Duchy of Brunswick (now Germany). Gauss’ family was neither educated nor rich. When Gauss was seven, he began elementary school, and this is where his intelligence was discovered almost immediately. ... Also while Gauss was there he formulated the principle of least squares and gathered results that would stay true if “Euclidean geometry were not the true one”, and many other smaller findings. ... Like Euler, Gauss thought numerically algebraically. As Gauss moved into his twenties, he moving at an incredible speeds with mathematical investigations and theory constructions. ... In 1799, Gauss earned his doctorate for the University of Helmstedt. ...
Gauss had quite a successful life, despite growing up with a poor and unhealthy family.
