The development of programming languages Define the words programs and programming languages The word program means to program means something that alters how something works. In this computer language case, a program is something designed to change the grammatical instructions of how a computer should preform tasks in a certain way; different programs can alter different things on a computer. Programming languages are high-level languages. They are the languages that programmers create to make it easier for people to see, use and understand. Such programs like BASIC, C++, ADA and Visual basics are some examples of programming languages. The different generation of programming languages First generation The first generation language was the oldest and first type of language hence the “ first “ generation. It is the machine language; it is easily understood by computers bit basically impossible for humans to understand its language due to all the numbers it uses. From this generation, programmers made better more advanced languages so other people could see how these programs worked.
